For A Smile, For A Life, For A Cure, For Our Heroes

I think I’ve assumed that opportunities to cross something off my ‘101 in 1001’ list would simply present themselves to me.  I’ve come to the (kind of obvious) realization that I’m going to need to take active steps in order to cross things off this list, that’s the whole point of it!  To push myself to do things that I want to do, that I don’t do in my everyday life.  So I’m finally crossed something off the list, #34 – Donate $100 to a cause I believe in.

udance

Every year, the University of Delaware holds UDance, to benefit the B+ Foundation.  It’s an amazing local organization which helps children with cancer and their families.  Many of the Greek organizations and RSO’s adopt a hero, a child who is battling or who has battled childhood cancer.  These children are so amazing, I can’t even put it into words.  I truly feel blessed to meet Delta Gamma’s hero.  I’m so happy I was able to give to this amazing organization, in their fight to find a cure for childhood cancer.

Check out the B+Foundation, its am amazing organization!

Who, What, Where, Watching Wednesday

The weekend is only two days away!  I actually have plans for the weekend, so I’m pretty excited!

Who – Sheryl Sandberg

img-sheryl-sandberg-holding_204909765218.jpg_article_singleimage

Recently, I’ve been reading a lot of articles about women in business (probably thanks to Levo League).  One woman who I keep coming across is Sheryl Sandberg.  Sandberg is the current COO of Facebook, and is about to release her anticipated book Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead.  Due to her upcoming publish date, there has been a lot of publicity surrounding Sandberg and her viewpoints about women in the workplace.  There is a wide range of opinions on her viewpoints, from the positive to the negative.  Personally, I’m intrigued by anyone who discusses women in the workplace, and am excited to read Lean In on March 11th.  (This article from Vogue about Sandberg is also a really great read).

There’s something about leather that makes me think I’m instantly bad ass,  Even in this classic camel color and swingy feminine silhouette.

Where – The Seashell House

shell house

Have you guys ever used airbnb?  It’s an awesome site where you can rent rooms and homes from people across the world, and they have some truly amazing properties.  I’m still longing for a tropical vacation, so The Seashell House in Isla Mujeres, Mexico would do the trick.  It’s such a whimsical house, with great views.  I think the pictures speak for themselves, so I’m not sure there’s much else I can add.

Watching – HGTV

property brothers

Confession: I don’t like the dark.  Never have, don’t think I ever will.  Ever since I was little, I’ve always slept with a TV on.  Growing up, I kept the TV turned to Disney Channel, because I was sure that there would be no horror movie previews on while I was trying to fall asleep.  Lately (probably more lately than I’d like to admit), I’ve made the switch to HGTV for my late-night television watching, and I’m hooked.  I love House Hunters, Property Brothers, and Selling New York.  I think my recent interest in real estate, home decor, and landscaping has made this channel all the more addicting to me.  Plus, how can you not want the Property Brothers to come to your home and create some “afters” like the ones above?!

Let me know what you’re loving this week!

Tuesday Text

There’s something about Tuesdays that uninspire me.  Most people think of Wednesday as the day they have to get over but, my “Who, What, Where, Watching Wednesday” series keeps me plenty energized.  Not to mention that Survivor is on on Wednesdays!  One thing that I find brightens most of my days is reading.  So I’ve found some interesting articles across the Web that I though I would share.

cute dog

This dog isn’t relevant to any of the following links.  But he’s super cute.

I loved this post from Your Sorority Sister.  I’ve been struggling with finding ways to stay connected with my Delta Gamma sisters, and it was comforting to know I’m not alone in feeling like this.  My collegiate years were some of the best of my life, and I’m always looking for ways to continue to strengthen those bonds of sisterhood.

Not really an article, but I find this video of Jennifer Lawrence hilarious.  Shocking, I know.

To go along with my love for Jennifer Lawrence, many ladies aren’t feeling Anne Hathaway.  Personally, I think she is a talented and beautiful woman.

I love Twitter as much as the next person, but this may be a little too much.

TED Talks are amazing, and I’ve been trying to watch more of them as part of my 101 in 1001 list.  Apparently I’m not alone (and the infographic is awesome).

Found anything interesting on the Web lately?

Oscar Recap

I may be in the minority, but I really have very few complaints about last night’s Academy Awards.  I loved the majority of dresses I saw on the red carpet, thought the acceptance speeches were gracious, and all of my favorite’s went home with a statue.  I thought a few of the montages were unnecessary, and Seth MacFarlane wasn’t at his best 100% of the time (why was William Shatner there again?) but it would have to be one of my favorite Oscar’s in recent history.  Here are my favorite red carpet looks as well as my top Oscar moments from last night

Top Looks

Jennifer Lawrence

jlawThat gown was her Oscar moment.  As soon as she stepped on the red carpet, I had a feeling Jennifer Lawrence was going to win.  That is the gown you win an Oscar in.

Top Moments

1. Ben Affleck’s Acceptance Speech

I thought Ben’s speech was super touching, and you could tell he truly appreciated this honor.  I loved the shout out to his beautiful wife and children, a true class act.

2. Jennifer Lawrence’s Press Room Interview

Can we just be best friends already?

3. Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Daniel Radcliffe do a little soft shoe

And to make up for the poor quality of that video, here’s a bonus photo:

Off to the Oscars

As a pop culture fanatic, I get pretty excited for Oscar weekend.  I can’t wait to see the great fashion that hits the red carpet, and my fingers are crossed that my girl Jennifer Lawrence will go home with her first Oscar.  Although I still haven’t managed to get myself invited to the Oscars, here’s what I would wear if I somehow did stumble across an invite.

I’d love to be on the red carpet in this: sparkly, classy, everything a girl could want on her big night.

Check back on Monday for some of my favorite Oscar looks!  I’d love to know what some of your favorite Oscar-worthy gowns are!
